Naturalist and interpretationist social science Essay

The naturalist way to deal with sociologies depends on content. The naturalist really focuses on what individuals state and considers their biographies as uncovering wonders. Then again interpretational approach, if individuals have convictions and wants, a translator credits them. In this methodology there are no free realities of the issue about substance. So there ought to be some manner by which the substance is deciphered as a lot of uncovering allowance of faith based expectations. As such, there ought to be some operator and an arrangement of techniques (strategies) with which the understanding is finished. Along these lines, the fundamental suspicion in interpretationist approach is that there is a satisfactory conduct of the specialist whose connection to the earth is comprehended and that the convictions of the operator will coordinate those of the subject he is deciphering (Davidson. D, 1993). The essential clash between these two methodologies is that the naturalist approach acknowledges the substance of the biographies of what individuals state, then again the interpretationist acknowledges just those convictions and wants that are credited by a mediator. The naturalist acknowledges that autonomous realities can exist then again the Interpretationalism doesn't acknowledge free realities about mental substance. The naturalist acknowledges what individuals state then again except if methods of deciphering the expressed word isn't discovered Interpretationalism doesn't acknowledge the allowance of faith based expectations that are held by individual making the articulations. Let us consider an increasingly broad actuality that is concentrated by sociologies, that on the off chance that the flexibly of an item diminishes, at that point, â€Å"other things being equal† the cost for their item will increment. The naturalist may consider the biography of an item seller who may give a record of how the costs of the wares that he managed like wheat; grain and rye went up at whatever point there was a lack of these wares. The naturalist may then visit a food merchant who may give a lifetime record of how every lack prompted increment in the costs of items he contemplates. The naturalist may continue to take a few such biographies, measurably critical and set up the circumstances and logical results connection between the deficiency of gracefully and cost increment. If there should arise an occurrence of Interpretationalism the researcher would move toward a mediator, in the event of an item showcase it would not be the ware vendor yet a specialist who might decipher the conduct of the sellers. The assignment of the interpretationist would be to initially choose the operator (specialist) based on his conduct in relationship to the market. The interpretationist would consider the relationship of the master with that of the product market, and endeavor to determine if his convictions are like those of his. At that point the master will decipher the conduct or the articulations of the item sellers and arrive at a resolution that in the event that the gracefully of an item diminishes, at that point, â€Å"other things being equal† the cost for the item will increment. Presently, utilizing a specialist supposition is an interpretationist way to deal with statistical surveying. The quality of the naturalist approach in building up that that in the event that the gracefully of an item diminishes, at that point, â€Å"other things being equal† the cost for their item will increment is that the naturalist gets data direct from the sellers, that is from the individuals who are the genuine entertainers. Also, getting data from a few entertainers builds the legitimacy of the examination just as gives extension to factual investigation. Then again the shortcoming of such a methodology is, that the naturalist may misjudge the information from vendors. For, instance the sellers may not dispose of the variables identifying with â€Å"other things being equal†. It is conceivable that elements like a significantly expanded interest may have prompted the expansion in costs but since the naturalist relies upon the dealer’s accounts he may acknowledge their translation that the costs of items have gone up as a result of decline in gracefully. The quality of the interpretationist approach is that the mediator or the operator has the aptitude to decipher the articulations of the vendors. His relationship to the market (condition) is with the end goal that he can make an educated understanding of what the market vendors articulate. Furthermore, the operator should have convictions that are like those of the interpretationist. As such he has the wisdom to contemplate â€Å"other things being equal†. The shortcoming of this methodology is that the interpretationist needs to rely upon the mediator or the master. He doesn't have the office of enormous numbers. It is difficult to expose the data to numerical investigation. What's more, there is an opportunity of mistakes in translation on the grounds that the determination of the operator might be flawed. The agent’s relationship to the market (condition) may not be as close as required. Moreover, the convictions of the operator might be at difference with that of the specialist. In both these cases the outcomes would be mistaken. To entirety, there is a contention in the methodology of the naturalist and the interpretationist. Each approach has its own favorable circumstances and detriments.

Analysis of James Hardie – Social Contract Analysis

Question: Depict the Analysis of James Hardie for Social Contract Analysis . Answer: 1 Stakeholders Analysis: Partner Group of James Hardie Corporate administration duties owed Investors This is fundamentally the primary purpose behind any organization to exist. There is a lot of cash that is contributed by the financial specialists and an organization must restore that speculation with an extensive profit connected with it. The Corporate administration is basic on the grounds that dependent on that the investors and financial specialists can settle on a normal choices towards investments(Howell, 2012) Representatives Representatives are the person who contribute towards the development of the organization and they move in the direction of the partners profits. They are significant piece of Corporate Governance as they have to know where their difficult work is going towards and what is the current as is condition of the company(Botha, 2015). Speculators They are the most significant explanation that the organization is consistently ready for action and can be operational even in crunch circumstances. The financial specialists consistently need to the administration and consistence principles of the organization and thus they can settle on a sound decision towards speculations to be made(Ayuso, 2007) Open Society This is only sometimes overlooked by the organization at the end of the day all the assets that are utilized by the organizations have originated from the general public and henceforth they are subject to show the right degree of administration and gauges to the overall population and subsequently an unmistakable image(Hayes, 2012) Executives Senior Management Many have a sentiment that they are an inward partner of the organization and subsequently the administration proviso isn't appropriate yet they have the obligation to check the rightness and see the operational prosperity of the undertakings identified with the guideline and compliance(Mckinsey, 2010). Diggers/Factory Workers For this situation there is solid duty towards the diggers with the goal that they are appropriately mindful of the way that what are the dangers that the activity officials to them and dependent on that they can settle on a superior and progressively nitty gritty decision. On the off chance that that isn't set up, at that point it needs a great deal of restructuring(Kramer, 2013) Law Governance The Law and Governance is there to characterize the gauges of the work to be followed as for the administrative consistence that must be set up. On the off chance that these are not set up, at that point in general the organization isn't conforming to primary law and thus they are misinforming the individuals at large(LawQuest, 2015) Auxiliaries The auxiliaries working and tasks are the duty of the principle organization and consequently a significant partner in this evaluation. This have an exceptionally long effect on relations and picture. 2: Key Corporate Governance Issues: ASX Principle Key corporate administration issue comparing to that ASX Principle Establish strong frameworks for the board and oversight(ASX_Corporate_Governance_Council, 2012) This is an enormous rule slip by as the companys execution and picture is progressively reliant on the presentation exhibited by the top administration individuals. Like in the previous days when it was known to the administration that Asbestos isn't something that is useful for the strength of the individuals inside the organization as well as outside also. There is a requirement for the caution to be raised by the administration individuals and promptly stop the creation and tasks identified with Asbestos however since the organization keep on doing likewise and thus it is a pass of the given ASX guideline and that will have an enormous repercussion for the organization. Advance moral and capable choice making(Beck, 2014) This is another slip by since its absolutely impossible can the choice of delivering asbestos be esteemed as moral either from the business morals perspective or the ethical morals perspective. The nitty gritty conversations about a similar will be done in the coming areas. Yet, the morals are considered either from utilitarian or deontological perspective. Be that as it may, there is no such perspective appeared by the organization by which they are attempting to be moral about their deeds all through. This is an intense infringement and consequently it is required to be carefully executed so things are overseen appropriately with no failures. Make convenient and adjusted disclosure(James, 2010) This is a pass that is appeared by the organization when they didnt unveiled the basic things and data identified with their auxiliaries and other sister concerns. This pass is both from the money related and operational working point of view, which is simply not ready to deal with the weight of the misfortunes acquired. The produced figures were simply not right to have the option to cover an inappropriate deeds of the organization and further control went things to be far more detestable. This infringement is an incredibly basic one and needs through consideration by the organization of they need to score in consistence focuses. The administration is significant as it will improve the picture of the organization Perceive and oversee risk(ASX_Contracts, 2012) The hazard was perceived long back, what is prompting the issue is that the organization couldn't diminish the impacts viably and most noticeably awful is that significantly subsequent to knowing the issues they proceeded with it. This is an intense infringement of the ASX Principle and henceforth should have been overseen appropriately and adequately. This isn't only a solitary law break, yet a heap of penetrates. Since the boycott of some component is there as it can cause hurts. On the off chance that that component is still being used, at that point it is presenting issues for the organization and furthermore medical problems and hazard for the clients and henceforth that is something that needs some intensive contemplation toward the starting itself with the goal that it doesn't accumulate anytime of time. 3: Compliance to Corporate Governance Issues: ASX Principle Moves organization ought to have made to conform to the ASX rule Establish strong frameworks for the board and oversight(ASX_Corporate_Governance_Council, 2012) The administration could have made some genuine strides towards a couple of things. The first is the immediate restriction on the utilization and creation of Asbestos and the subsequent one is to contribute some great measure of cash towards the innovative work of the material that is appropriate as a substitute to Asbestos. As such it will be establish a strong framework for the administration and it will likewise produce a through trust in the organization that will guarantee that the things are going on in the best possible oversight of the administration individuals and consequently this management will likewise guarantee that the things are followed in consistence to the real necessity of the legal and law. Advance moral and capable dynamic The morals in each part of dynamic is significant. Beginning with the customary good morals that is the morals of Utilitarianism is to be executed that increases present expectations of morals in the organization and some solid of set of principles rules are to be associated with the dynamic from business moral angle. The administration must have the option to welcome the decision on the table about what is the most ideal approach ahead in each circumstance. Make ideal and adjusted exposure This revelation and right data sharing is something that won't simply keep them dynamic in the consistence classification yet additionally for the advancement of the picture of the organization both inside and remotely. On the off chance that the organization can show the right data with the partners, at that point the trust in the organization increments and consequently that will prompt better administration set up. This is the first and the least demanding advance that can be taken by the organization to be guaranteed that the things will fall set up effectively. Perceive and oversee chance The hazard the board and acknowledgment is again an administration level attribute that will be followed appropriately. On the off chance that the hazard acknowledgment occurs at a beginning period, at that point that isn't sufficient, the administration must have the option to find a way to guarantee that it doesn't represent any hazard to the activities or working in the organization. 4 Long term enthusiasm of the Stakeholders: Partner Group of James Hardie To what extent term interests of partner bunches were influenced or exacerbated Investors The enthusiasm of the investors were not influenced much as the organization is keep on creating the financially savvy item in the exploitative way. This may not be useful for the general public by and large. Be that as it may, for the investors the cash was streaming in continuous. This is the huge bit of leeway that the investor will encounter throughout(Tony, 2014). Workers For the representatives working in the seaward were not influenced a lot. The effect was more on specialized individuals and that will be talked about later on. The main effect would be that they must be related with an organization that may discolor their picture in outside world that may affect the profession. Financial specialists For financial specialists the effect is enormous as in the drawn out when the organization has collected such a large amount of obligation for them as NGOs and bolster organizations, the cash will be streaming there and that is going to affect their profits and thus it very well may be deciphered that their cash isn't getting used in the planned manner(OECD, 2013). Open Society They are the enormous failures as significantly in the wake of giving such a great amount to the general public they are getting a very return as wellbeing perils and that to the effect is seen at a long haul and henceforth a gigantic hazardous to the general public in general. This an enormous misfortune for the general public. Chiefs Senior Management They are additionally an enormous failures, may not be temporarily yet in the long haul and the significant misfortune is because of the discoloring of the picture that is brought about by their demonstration of supporting the offenses of the organization and th

In 1946 the principal all-electronic computerized PC named ENIAC (Electrical Numerical Integrator and Calculator) was created. This PC had the option to accomplish as much work in one hour as possible do in multi week (Duden, 1989, p. 30). Despite the fact that the TV was concocted in the late 1930s, it didn't increase a lot of fame toward the beginning of the decade. The economy of the 1940s can be handily partitioned into two periods: the economy during the war and the economy after the war. After World War II the U. S. economy was radically changed, the inclusion of America in the war supported the economy uring the war years and set the establishment for the US to turn into a financial superpower (Vatter, H. G. 1985). One of the most hailing financial accomplishments by the U. S. during WWII was the end of joblessness. During this period, work went up from 47. 52 million to 53. 96 million, over a 13% expansion. Joblessness rates had tumbled from 4. 7% in 1942 and declined to 1. 2% in 1944 (Williams, R. M. 1994). This was progressively an importance as a result of the reduced work power brought about by the 11 million people entering the military during this period. A waffle house is not a waffle home

A waffle house is not a waffle home Okay, so tonight we were at Allisons house and I didnt take any pictures but Ill steal some later from Allisons xanga. Stealing is wrong and if you ever stole anything in your life, you should confess now, because Marilee Jones has magical glasses that can see into peoples souls and she wont admit unrepentant thieves to MIT. So, anyway, we wanted to watch a movie from Mikes massive DVD collection, but there were six of us there and each of us preferred a different movie. So, we each made our choices and organized them into a bracket: Allison: I Heart Huckabees Ben: Hero Matt: The Hebrew Hammer Mike: Wet Hot American Summer Sam: Strangers With Candy, Season 1 Shana: A Mighty Wind Allisons Dad: The Sound of Music The Sound of Music went up against a bye in the first round of the bracket and unanimously lost to it. Sorry, Julie Andrews fans, but I was Captain Von Trapp in high school and after a hundred hours around screaming little children in matching floral print liederhosen, the whole do-mi-mi, mi-so-so business starts to lose a little of its charm. In the end, it came down to A Mighty Wind and Hebrew Hammer, with Hebrew Hammer just slightly edging out the folk-rock-mockumentary because all my friends are Jewish. Then we decided to watch Hero instead. I dont know exactly how the runner-up ended up winning so thoroughly, but I could never miss an opportunity to allude to Clay Aiken on my blog. Hero was beloved by all, even though we did end up going a little MST3K on it (the secret twentieth character for sword really does look a little like a giraffe kicking an octopus). Later, we reenacted it in Allisons bedroom using My Little Ponies while Allison played emo covers of Paula Abdul hits in the background. It was just then that I realized that although I am probably the biggest American Idol fan at MIT, I couldnt sing you a Paula Abdul song if my life depended on it. I hang my head in shame. You know what though? My friends are pretty cool, but they really dont matter, because I had the greatest dinner ever tonight. I keep wondering why every time I come home, Sams Mom always makes stuffed peppers. Turns out that she thought stuffed peppers were my favorite meal. NO WAY. My favorite meal is a Pennsylvania Dutch classic: chicken and waffles. Oh, wow, its the best dinner ever: Sams Moms Hand pours the waffle batter. Sorry if the pictures a little blurry; the camera was trembling because I was so excited. And for dessert, peanut butter pie! Shana gave me a ride over to Allisons, so I thanked her with a piece while we watched the season 3 finale of The Amazing Race. As you can see, she finds it bewilderingly delicious. Let me know if you want the recipe; but dont tell Sams Mom or she might get mad. I think its a family secret. Anyway, she stopped reading this blog for fear Id break my arm and not tell her, so Im not too worried. ENTRY TITLE EXPLANATION: In my high school years, I never really met a lot of people outside of Pennsylvania, so I was in for quite a shock when I started meeting people from other parts of the country who did bizarre things like call carbonated beverages pop or walk around with their collars up or say yall. Anyway, after meeting every undergrad at MIT, I decided that the entire nation can basically be separated into two categoriespeople who have a Waffle House in their hometown and people who have a Starbucks in their hometown. Well, within the past five years, Ive seen the construction of both a Waffle House and a Starbucks within five minutes of my home in Harrisburg, PA. The Waffle House came about three years earlier, so I guess I must ally myself with the South rather than Seattle, but still you guys in the South might have Waffle Houses, but thanks to Sams Mom, I have truly got a Waffle Home. I guess it could also be a pun on Simmons.

Formation of a Rainbow Essay - 550 Words

Formation of a Rainbow (Essay Sample) Content: Formation of a RainbowStudentà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s name:Institution:Formation of a RainbowA rainbow is a meteorological and an optical phenomenon that occurs as a result of both refraction and reflection of light in droplets of water suspended in the atmosphere (Buick, 2010). The spectrum of light that forms as a result of refraction and reflection of light appears as a multicolored bow. When viewed from the ground, the rainbow appears as a half circle with the red color at the top. Someone observing from the ground only sees the upper half of the whole circle since the remaining half of the whole rainbow is covered by the ground. An observer from a high point, such as a plane can see the rainbow as a full circle (Buick, 2010).In the atmosphere, there are numerous water droplets that act as light refractor. The water droplets act as a medium for light refractor, though with a varied optical density compared to the adjacent air. Refraction occurs when waves of light cross the b oundary of the medium (water droplets) to another (Buick, 2010). When the light waves enter the droplet, the speed of light decreases causing the path of light to bend. On reaching the edge of the water droplet an internal reflection occurs, followed by refraction outside the droplet. The double refraction and one reflection cause the light rays to be dispersed into a spectrum of colors (Thornes, 1999).The light rays are composed of various light colors and each light color has a different angle of deviation. The angle at which the refracted light rays and the incoming light rays deviate is 42 degrees for the red light and 40 degrees for the blue light (Buick, 2010). The difference in the deviation angle is due to wavelengths. Blue light has a shorter wavelength than the red light; this makes it refract more light than the red light. The red light on the other hand refracts at a quite steeper angle compared to the blue light. There are several paths through which light can pass thro ugh in a water droplet and subsequently refract on the ground. These paths depend on either the location of the sun in relation to the incoming rays or the part of the droplets the incoming rays are in contact with (Buick, 2010). Most light rays deviate between 40 and 42 degrees. At these deviation angles, the light that is being dispersed is bright enough to form a spectrum of colors (ROYGBIV) that can be displayed in the sky.The circular rainbow forms as a result of the presence of water droplets suspended in the atmosphere, and that are in...

Soil Erosion in Africa

Soil erosion in Africa threatens food and fuel supplies and can contribute to climate change. For over a century, governments and aid organizations have tried to combat soil erosion in Africa, often with limited effect. The Problem Today Currently, 40% of soil in Africa is degraded. Degraded soil diminishes food production and leads to soil erosion, which in turn contributes to desertification. This is particularly worrisome since, according to the UNs  Food and Agriculture Organization, some 83% of sub-Saharan African people depend on the land for their livelihood, and food production in Africa will have to increase almost 100% by 2050 to keep up with population demands. All of this makes soil erosion a pressing social, economic, and environmental issue for many African countries. Causes for Erosion Erosion happens when wind or rain carry topsoil away. How much soil is carried away depends on how strong the rain or wind is as well as the soil quality, topography (for example, sloped versus terraced land), and the amount of ground vegetation. Healthy topsoil (like soil covered with plants) is less erodible. Put simply, it sticks together better and can absorb more water. Increased population and development put greater stress on soils. More land is cleared and less left fallow, which can deplete the soil and increase water run-off. Overgrazing and poor farming techniques can also lead to soil erosion, but it is important to remember that not all causes are human; climate and natural soil quality are also important factors to consider in tropical and mountainous regions. Failed Conservation Efforts During the colonial era, state governments tried to force peasants and farmers to adopt scientifically approved farming techniques. Many of these efforts were aimed at controlling African populations and did not take into account significant cultural norms. For instance, colonial officers invariably worked with men, even in areas where women were responsible for farming. They also provided few incentives - only punishments. Soil erosion and depletion continued, and rural frustration over colonial land schemes helped fuel nationalist movements in many countries. Not surprisingly, most nationalist governments in the post-independence era tried to work with rural populations rather than force change. They favored education and outreach programs, but soil erosion and poor output continued, in part because no one looked carefully at what farmers and herders were actually doing. In many countries, elite policymakers had urban backgrounds, and they still tended to presume that rural peoples existing methods were ignorant and destructive. International NGOs and scientists also worked off of assumptions about peasant land use that are now being called into question. Recent Research Recently, more research has gone into both the causes of soil erosion and into what are termed indigenous farming methods and knowledge about sustainable use. This research has exploded the myth that peasant techniques were inherently unchanging, traditional, wasteful methods. Some farming patterns are destructive, and research can identify to better ways, but increasingly scholars and policymakers are emphasizing the need to draw the best from scientific research and peasant knowledge of the land. Current Efforts to Control Current efforts, still include outreach and education projects, but are also focusing on greater research and employing peasants or providing other incentives for participating in sustainability projects. Such projects are tailored to local environmental conditions and can include forming water catchments, terracing, planting trees, and subsidizing fertilizers. There have also been a number of transnational and international efforts to protect soil and water supplies. Wangari Maathai won the Nobel Peace Prize for establishing the Green Belt Movement, and in 2007, the leaders of several African states across the Sahel created the Great Green Wall Initiative, which has already increased forestation in targeted areas. Africa is also part of the Action against Desertification, a $45 million program that includes the Caribbean and Pacific. In Africa, the program is funding projects that will protect forests and topsoil while generating incomes for rural communities. Numerous other national and international projects are underway as soil erosion in Africa gains greater attention from policymakers and social as well as environmental organizations. The Cause For Increasing Fire Activity Is Climate Change

One leading cause for increasing fire activity is climate change. Over the past several hundred years, average temperatures across the globe have increased. Warming temperatures have shortened winter and spring by melting snow packs and drying out areas prematurely. They have also staved off the chilling temperatures of fall. Altogether, summer and the firefighting season is 78 days longer than it was, even in the last several decades. As a result, burnable fuels are exposed to extreme temperatures for a longer period of time. Prolonged exposure to such temperatures drives the moisture out of the fuels. Additionally, fuel moisture directly relates to fuel flammability. With high fuel moistures, fuels like trees and shrubs will have a difficult time being ignited. Not coincidentally, fires under these conditions tend to be creeping in nature and unable to rapidly devour land. However, when fuel moistures low, percentages in the teens or single digits, fire can spread very rapidly and run across the landscape. So, climate change does directly affect fire behavior and increasing fire behavior. But, that is not all. Increasing fire behavior and increasing temperatures due to climate change is a cycle. Warm temperatures enable fuel moistures decline and fires are able to take off and engulf millions of acres a year in fire. In turn, fires, more specifically large ones, emit enormous amounts of exhaust. Thomas Heilbroner s Twenty First Century Capitalism

Trying to understand the world that we live in today and where we are going in the future, as a nation, as a modern society, and as humans in general, we must look at the overarching structure or social order that created our present condition, capitalism. In order to understand capitalism, we must not only try to understand what capitalism really is, but realize that it is not solely composed of what is commonly connected with the term, economics. Rather, it is composed of varying social and political factors that make capitalism what it truly is. This view and analysis of capitalism is what Robert Heilbroner puts forth in his 1992 book, Twenty-First Century Capitalism, where he introduces the notion of the two realms of†¦show more content†¦4). And the way that these capitalist countries achieve this is through the organizing principle of capitalism, the market. That said, in the long history of societies, the market is a relatively new organizing principle, and it needed certain conditions to take hold. This was precipitated by the fall of the Roman Empire which was â€Å"crucial not only because the social order of the Empire was at every level incompatible with a capitalist order, but because its shattered ruins provided an extraordinary setting in which such an order would emerge—slowly, painfully, and without any sense of fulfilling a historic mission during the thousand-year period we call feudalism† (Ibid., p. 33). And although this millennium of history is much more complex than can be described here, basically the fall of the Roman Empire left Europe â€Å"without unifying law, currency, and government, broken into a crazy quilt of isolate and self-dependent towns, manorial estates, and petty fiefdoms† (Ibid., p. 34). And it was this very fragmentation of feudal life that made it possible for the transformation into a

Mormonism †Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Free Essays

I. Introduction Mormons is the common name of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Christian body to United States origin. The name is from the prophet Mormon, whose writings, members believe, form the sacred Book of Mormon. We will write a custom essay sample on Mormonism – Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or any similar topic only for you Order Now The present-day church is descended from the persecuted sect that established a self-sufficient colony in the barren dessert of Utah in 1847. The Mormons still have their major strength in Utah, but have expanded into other sections of the country and have made converts in many foreign countries. Headquarters are in Salt Lake City, Utah (Davies, 2003). The purpose of this study is to: (1) know the history of Mormonism; (2) analyze the beliefs, practices, and organization of the movement from a biblical (Christian) perspective and; (3) explain the movement’s response to Biblical claims of Jesus Christ as well as why or why not I believe this group deserves the label of Contemporary Religious Movement (Cult). II. Background A. History Mormonism was founded by Joseph Smith (1805-1844), who lived as a youth near Palmyra, western New York. At 14 he began to have visions. In 1827, he announced that after revelation in 1823 he found golden plates with hieroglyphics, which he translated with divine aid and published as the Book of Mormon (1830). The golden plates were not made public, but 11 men testified that they had seen them. Smith founded the church in 1830 with sex members. The sect grew rapidly in numbers (â€Å"Interview of Martin Harris†). In 1831 the Mormons established their first temple in Kirtland, Ohio, near Cleveland, but the group suffered severe financial problems and lost many of its members.  Other Mormons settled in Independence, Missouri. Soon forced to move because of the hostility of their neighbors, they next founded the town of their neighbors, they next founded the town of Far West in Caldwell County. In 1838-39 they were driven out of Missouri because of religious prejudice and fear of Mormon political power. The refugees next settled in Commerce, Illinois, and renamed the town Nauvoo. Here on swampy land along the Mississippi the Mormons built an impressive city of about 20,000, then the largest city in Illinois. Again there was religious persecution and bitter strife over the growing political power of the Mormons. A new source of conflict was the doctrine of polygamy introduced by Joseph Smith. In 1844, Smith was murdered by a mob. Because of continued harassment by their neighbors, the Mormons abandoned Nauvoo in 1846 (â€Å"Mormonism’s History,† 2006). III. Discussion The Mormons believe their church is the true modern successor of the early church of Jesus Christ. The church’s aim â€Å"is to prepare the world, by the preaching of the restored gospel and the founding of the Latter-day Zion, for the Messiah’s second coming and the advent of the millennium. A. Beliefs The Mormons accept the Bible as sacred and look upon the Book of Mormon as equal to it in authority. But I strongly believe that there is no book in the world that would equal to the Bible, not even the Book of Mormons because this Scripture (Bible) is God-breathed as stated in second Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 â€Å"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.† This would mean that the writers of the Bible are inspired and anointed by the Spirit of God (Barlow, 1997). The Book of Mormons tells the history of an ancient band of Jewish exiles believed by Mormons to be the ancestors of the American Indians but the Bible is silent about it. Other books of scripture are the Doctrine and Covenants, a collection of revelations given through the founder, Joseph Smith; and the Pearl of Great Price, containing the writings-not found in the Bible-which Mormons believe are revelation of Abraham and Moses. Moreover, I contest that the church should not be under the beliefs of its founder but should be followed by the teachings of Jesus Christ, who is the head of the church. The Mormons believe in continuous revelation by God. Yes, I agree to it but the revelation must always be in the context of the Scripture; thus, anything that is not in the word of God is not of God. In addition, the Mormons believe that God the Father and his son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith. Individual members may receive revelations from God for the guidance of their own lives. But only one man at a time may receive revelations from God for the whole church, and he is the president of the whole church. Mormons emphasize faith in Jesus Christ and repentance for sins (Barlow, 1997). I disagree to what the Mormons believe because no one ever sees God. Even Moses and Abraham and other great men of God did not see him face to face because no one can stand in his presence for he is a Holy God. When God appeared to Moses, God showed himself in a form of burning bush and Moses trembled because of God’s presence. Moreover, God can do anything he wants to do because he is an omnipotent God. He can speak to different people at the same time. He doesn’t only reveal himself and speak to the leader of the church but also reveal himself and speak to us individually through the Holy Spirit and his words because God has no favoritism. B. Practices The Mormons baptize by immersion for the remission of sins and practice laying of hands for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Holy Communion is celebrated with bread and water. In the Bible, the remission of sin is through the blood of Jesus Christ. Water baptism is mentioned in the Bible but it simply signifies that you buried your old life and new life has waited for you. The Mormons have two practices exclusive with them: baptism for the dead and celestial marriage. Baptism for the dead is chiefly for ancestors not baptized as Mormons; a living person is baptized in proxy for the dead. A celestial marriage is one in which a couple is married under the authority of the priesthood in a Mormon temple and is â€Å"sealed for eternity† so that in the celestial kingdom the family the family relationship will be resumed. Marriages outside a temple are for life on earth only (Givens, 1997). From the 1840’s until 1890, Mormon doctrine permitted â€Å"plural marriage,† or polygamy. I would say that these teachings are not found and written in the Bible. Our marriage to our partner here on earth is only temporary. Mormon temples are used only for secret rites, primarily those of celestial marriage and baptism of the dead. They are open only to Mormons of good standing. Sunday services are held in local churches called ward halls, and non-Mormons are welcomed. Visitors may also enter the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, which is used for conferences and concerts (Davies, 2003). Mormonism looks upon health as a spiritual value and bans the use of liquor, tobacco, coffee, and tea. Recreation is encouraged. There is emphasis on education and on work and thrift. The church operates a vast welfare program for its members who are in need, and it disapproves of public aid. Members support the church by tithing (giving one-tenth of their gross income).   On the other hand in the Bible, we are taught that our body is the temple of the Living God as stated in first Corinthians chapter 6 verses 19-20 that is why we should take care of our bodies because we need to glorify God—body, soul and Spirit. IV. Conclusion In conclusion, I will base my belief according to the word of God which is the  Bible so I would say that Mormonism or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a cult because it does not follow fully to the word of God. They have practices and beliefs which cannot be found in the Scripture. As I said earlier, anything that is not from the word of God is not of God. Though they may claim that they believe on Jesus Christ yet their practices are not in line the teachings of Jesus. Reference: 1. â€Å"Mormonism’s History†. System Analysis and Design Mobile Application

Question: Discuss about theSystem Analysis and Design for Mobile Application. Answer: Introduction: The Problem: In the health care set up, it is typically important to provide timely treatment or assistance to the patients. Furthermore, it is often noticed that the timely assistance can help the patient in the course of self-management of the diseases. Tele-health service has indentified that in most of the cases the patients find it difficult and inconvenient to execute an unplanned visit to the service delivery organizations. Hence, they are anticipating and planning to provide a better remote service delivery to the community based patients. Recently, the organization is using a tablet based web interface for the end-user of tele-health hardware and software in the homes. However, the organization has identified that most of their clients are living in the regional, rural and remote locations in the central west of NSW. Moreover, a huge number of the potential user of the service of this organization is the elderly population. They often find it difficult to operate the current interaction system of the organization as it involves a number of information as well as interactions (Giger et al., 2015). Moreover, this particular system is not easy for the elderly population to carry anywhere. Hence, the organization is planning to provide a better and handy solution to the end users of their service of remote health care and self-management of the health issues. Capabilities: The recent system is providing the end users an interface to monitor their own vital signs from home. However, in most of the cases, the users find it difficult to handle a tablet for this particular purpose. Hence, the following prospective systems or technologies can be utilized to provide the service of self-monitoring of the health statues of the patients by themselves: A Cloud-Based Mobile Application: To serve the purposes of remote health monitoring of the patients, a cloud-based mobile application can be used. It will be a handy solution for everyone. The organization need to focus on the clarity or simplicity of the application. The current application or software takes time to be loaded (Adibi, 2015). Using a mobile-based application will eliminate this particular problem and the users will be able to operate in lesser time. As opined by Yang et al., (2015) it is important for the health applications to be light and easy to load as time is an important issue in the health care setup. A GsmBased Wireless Human Health Monitor: It will have three distinct parts with three different tasks. These are the sensors for heartbeat, temperature and transmitter and receiver. Here, the data will be transmitted via GSM modem or SMS (Rodgers et al., 2015). The receiver will be at the doctor or the health care managements place. It can be Smart Watch. Video Conferencing Via Mobile: This particular application can be helpful for the users, as it will help them in directly connecting to the consultants. Via this technology the patients can chat with the consultant, provide, and receive required data and information to the competent person (Adibi, 2015). This particular interface will not include various directions. The patient or the user only needs to connect to the consultant and talk to them via video call. Benefits: The particular technology of GSM based wireless human health monitor will be helpful for bridging the gap between the consultant and the patient. It will also be helpful in community-based patient care to enhance the capacity of nurses to deliver medications management for clients. As opined by Evans et al., (2016) the technologies for remote health monitoring need to be easy to be operated. These above recommended applications can be useful in this regard. These particular technologies will also serve the issue of serving the rural and elderly population in particular. As opined by Giger et al., (2015) the remote health monitoring applications are needed to be multipurpose so that the overall conditions of the patient or the user can be measured at once. In addition to this, as mentioned by Bisio et al., (2015) for the remote health monitoring systems it is required to be low in installation cost. The above discussed applications or technologies will be low in cost. Moreover, these technologies will fulfill the objective of the organization, i.e. providing a home based health care service to the potential users. Furthermore, the user himself can use these applications. Thus, it will increase the knowledge and awareness of the patient about himself and the self-management of his physical issues. These technologies will also be helpful for the patients who are less educated and not so aware of the recent technological advancement. They were going on there Saturday outing to a nature forest. While on the trail Trishia had to urinate so she called to her mom, but her mom was busy arguing with Pete the brother. She ducked off in the woods to urinate when she saw other people near her. She went further into the woods and got lost. At first, she wasn't worried she thought they would recognize that she was lost and find her. She was smart because she didn't eat all of her lunch she rationed it out. That night she took out her Walkman and listened to the Red Sox game and that was her only line to the world. The next day she woke up thinking she was in her bed, when she noticed she was in the woods she started to cry. She ate some of her lunch and started to follow the creek because she thought it would lead her to people. She was walking up a hill when she slipped and fell down the hill, and smooshed her lunch and punctured her water supply. Out of food and water, she was forced to eat berries and drink from the creek. That night she took out her Walkman and hoped it worked after her fall, then she listened to the Sox again and heard a news flash about her, starting to cry she turned off her Walkman. The next night she drank from the creek and ate some berries, In the night she awoke and threw up her meal all over her pack, also she had a case of diarrhea and she fell in it. She did get used to the water and berries so she ate them often. She was starting to hallucinate so she heard voices telling her she was going to die and that there was something watching her, also she saw a wasp king after being stung by wasps when she fell down the hill. After a week, she could barley walk and the search party was now focused on a prank call saying she had been raped and dumped in Maine. Suddenly she found a road and started to follow, it didn't lead to anything but an empty truck and an old c ottage. She was face to face with a bear and she threw her Walkman at it right when a hunter shot it in the leg, the hunter rescued her and left her at the hospital. (He could not be known because he was breaking the law of hunting in the offseason) In the end she was reunited with her parents after nine days in the woods, she had phenomena in both lungs and she would be fine. Why I Chose Book? The reason I chose this book is because I thought it was going to be a baseball book by the title The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. It wasn't about baseball it was about a girl who was lost in the woods for nine days and the story of her survival. Also, I chose this book because the minimum page requirement is 180 pages and this was 220 so wasn't going to read a 300-page novel. Reaction To Something I Read The one thing that stands out that I read is when she started to have her hallucinations and starts to talk to her idle Tom Gordon (a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox). She asks him questions and he answers them. Also, she talks to her friend Pepsi and thinks of her sayings. She sees things like the wasp man with a head of wasps and then he talks he spits wasps at her. I think this is a good description by Stephen King of what it would be like to be alone in the woods with no sign of human life for nine days. Is The Title A Good One? I don't think the title The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is a good title because sports fans automatically think it will be about sports. The title is the way it is

Social Media HIPAA Essays

Social Media HIPAA Essays Social Media HIPAA Essay Social Media HIPAA Essay Essay Topic: Social Media Social Media HAIFA Jacqueline Ford Healthcare Compliance Increasing privacy violations is more evident than ever. Usage of Social Media to network between friends, colleagues, and family is at an all-time high. Cellophanes or smartness are used not only to communicate socially, but also professionally. More innovative are cellophanes and portable tablets with high megalith cameras built-in, to instantly share a real-time event(s). For example: a loved one delivering a baby; a witness to an accident; injuries and/or wounds, Just to name a few. This is occurring daily not only with civilians, but healthcare workers; especially those who witness graphic or invasive procedures not normally seen to the average Joe. Unfortunately, some healthcare workers have no medical conscious; and for those who disclose patient information online can find themselves in violation of patient privacy laws like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, also known as HAIFA. If caught, this can result in not only getting disciplined or fired, but being subject to fines of up to $250,000 and even a prison sentence. Another potential active consequence is an investigation and discipline by the professionals state board. But that threat hasnt stopped some medical professionals from posting confidential patient information online without permission. Some recent examples of social networking HAIFA breeches include these violations in Healthcare: A nurse who posted a patients picture and chart on his Faceable page because he thought it was funny and since it was only Faceable, there was no real harm in it A doctor who treated a patient over Twitter Emergency room personnel who posted pictures on the Internet of a man being rated for fatal knife wounds A doctor who asked a patient on a date after seeing her profile on a dating website A Rhode Island doctor was fired from the hospital and reprimanded by the Medical Board after she posted on her Faceable page about a long day at work. She never referred to the patients name but gave out enough details about the injuries to allow others to guess who it was. Although these are extreme examples of social networking gone wrong, even seemingly innocuous behaviors like writing about work on a blob, befriending a patient n a social networking site or taking a photo with a cellophane can lead to HAIFA Phoenix, on December 19, 2007; Dry. Adam Hansen, chief resident of general surgery at Mayo Clinic Hospital, admitted that he took a picture of a patients penis prior to surgery. Strip club owner Sean Dubious has a tattoo on the top of his penis that reads: Hot Rod. Hansen had admitted to Dubious that he took the picture with his cell phone while the patient was unconscious being prepped for gallbladder surgery. One of the primary purposes of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act is to make it an actual federal offense for anybody to release any information about any patient without their written consent. Yet violations of HAIFA are only misdemeanors. Hansen is presently practicing as a Thoracic Surgeon at United Hospital Center in West Virginia. In order to address the growing problem of HAIFA violations by medical professionals, a company that develops mobile solutions is creating technology that will monitor social media sites to find HAIFA violations and evaluate the severity of the privacy breeches, which will help a medical facility take appropriate action. Some medical schools are also doing their part to help solve the problem by giving future doctors tips on how to conduct themselves professionally online, as well as examples of people in the profession who have made serious mistakes on social networking sites. According to a one professional In the current health care environment, we do not need to look any further than our nightly news program or daily paper to understand that health care costs have risen precipitously over the past decade and are on a similar path for the coming years unless we do something drastic to reverse he trend (p. 33). Mr.. Sullivan statement does bring a vital point, what drastic measures can be taken to keep patient privacy, private? With the ease and magnitude of the misuse of our social network technology; only a clear, well-defined and widely disseminated social networking policy that emphasizes compliance responsibilities during both work and non-work hours, and in using both company computer systems and any other devices with access to the Internet, is an employers most effective weapon against liability for employee misuse of social networking sites. From a reflections standpoint, operating social media to enhance your health organization can be accomplished in a compliant way.

How Long Should My Resume Be

How Long Should My Resume Be There are many articles out there on the topic of how long your resume should be. Two that were informative for me are  How Long Should My Resume Be?,  from Great Resumes Fast, and  Resumes for Executive Jobs Tips on Length, Formatting and Style,  by Matthew Rothenberg of TheLadders. My guideline is that if you are a new graduate, your resume should be one page if at all possible. If you have 10 years of work experience, it will probably be two pages. I recommend always having a one-page resume at the ready if you are expecting to work with recruiters. I disagree a bit with the formatting advice from TheLadders. I do not like underlining or changes in font size as a formatting tool. I much prefer the option of Small Caps which you will find under the font menu. Its a great way to create emphasis. Remember, even though you probably wont include graphics in your resume (other than perhaps some nice lines and tasteful shading), your resume is a  work of art. Print it out and make sure it looks professional! Its likely that if you underlined a lot and multiple font sizes you will change your mind quickly about your artistic choice when you look at the document in hard copy.

BUSINESS FINANCE Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

BUSINESS FINANCE - Research Paper Example Rajaratnam was entitled by the Forbes magazine as the self-made billionaire hedge fund manager and was also the 235th America’s richest men in the year 2009. As on 2009, the total net worth of Rajaratnam was over $1.88 billion. Thus, he was the richest Sri Lankan born entity in the world. He started his career business loan specialist to technology firms was working as the lending officer of Manhattan Bank. Then in the year 1985, Rajaratnam joined Needham & Co. as investment banker a focused on consumer electronics industry. It is extremely astonishing as well as praise worthy fact that from here Rajaratnam was promoted as the head of research at Needham & Co. in the year 1987 (just in a span of two years). He was then promoted to President of Needham & Co. in the year 1991, at the age of only 34 years. When he was at the pinnacle of the company, Rajaratnam seeded his own hedge fund company that he initially named as the Needham Emerging Growth Company and then later renamed i t to Galleon. The hedge fund company Galleon was valued close to $4 billion in the year 2009, down from the peak value of $7 billion in the year 2008. According to the annual report of Galleon for the year 2009, the diversified hedge fund company had over 22% compounded annual returns since its inception. One of the reason for the company’s tremendous success and peak valuation for the year ending 2008 was the sudden collapse of Lehman Brothers. and global financial crisis that encouraged firms to adapt aggressive hedging strategy. From the financial statements of the company from the year 2000 to 2008, it can be said that Rajaratnam invested primarily in pharmaceutical and technology sectors. The basic reasons behind such investment strategy could be: one, seeking growth of income as objective and two, both the sectors are defensive and export oriented. Rajaratnam was very knowledgeable to realize the importance of technology sector in future and so he knew that by investing in technology stocks at present would maximize shareholders’ wealth in future due to capital appreciation of the stocks. The demand for drugs and medicines on the other hand will always persist and probably increase in future with the rise in population. According to one of the face to face interviews by Rajaratnam, he said that the best ideas are outcomes of frequent visits to companies in which his company invested and also from regular conversations with the hedge fund managers. In the year 2009, Rajaratnam along with five others were charged and arrested for insider trading and multiple frauds conviction. The founder of Galleon fund, Rajaratnam pleaded that he was not guilty and paid $100 million bail to remain free (which was the largest bail amount in the history of United States). But in May 2011, a US district court found Rajaratnam guilty and then on October 2011 he was sentenced to 11 year imprisonment by the US district judge Richard Holwell. Other current and former traders of Galleon were charged and arrested with allegation of involvement in insider trading activity and alleged conspiracy. It is important to mention that several former employees of the organization cooperated in the investigation process. It was also reported in media that as of January 2012, over 50 people were either convicted or pleaded guilty from the Galleon hedge fund scandal (Hristova, 2012, pp.1-3). Overview of Insider Trading The Galleon insider trading case was one of

Analysis and Critique on French Education System

In my opinion, the French education system is faulty and undeserving. Meisler portrays for us in animated detail, the torture that French pupils go through in their schooldays. It is also relatively easy for me to understand this scenario because in my country, India, the scene is strikingly similar. It is also the reason that I am here right now–in the United States getting the benefits of the best undergraduate system in the world–to take home with me the accrual of a â€Å"liberal† education. I find the lack of French students in an American institution surprising. Surely French parents will think and re-think before making a choice between their child†s future and the haughtiness of their country†s culture. Do they really want risk their children to go through a system where the chance of getting the baccalaureate degree is only one in three? What is the point of â€Å"attempting† to get an education? The country†s literacy rate reads ninety-nine percent yet Meisler indicates that two-thirds of France is without a reputed degree. These statistics are unheard of in the rest of the world. Students who do manage to get this degree get celebrity treatment and many go on to become Nobel laureates. Nevertheless, what of those who not make it? They live an obscure life, affected by their failure until their dying day. This also happens to be the reason for France†s contemptuous behavior towards tourists. One often comes across a French waiter or low-level bureaucrat or store clerk behaving defensively as they had done with their teachers, desperately trying to evade disapproval. Fear being their motivation rather than the pursuit of success. French education seemingly preaches that France is the world and that there is nothing beyond. Meisler has pointed out a symbolic example when he says that, in English, people usually try to judge the level of comprehension of the person with whom they are conversing. They then try to adapt to the same wavelength so that the conversation carries on with least difficulty. However, to the French, this is an alien concept. If you cannot speak the perfect grammar that they as children have been taught in medieval fashion, you become an outcast. I think the French have to modify their philosophy and look beyond defining â€Å"education† as â€Å"academics†. There is much more to a complete education than precision of mind, command of language and a huge store of memory. They have to realize that Nobel laureates do not mean much until they are representatives of their entire country. Although France may have had several more Nobel laureates than the United States, it has achieved this at a price. The price of disregarding their â€Å"lesser† citizens. The United States on the other hand has gone the Darwinian way–the process of natural selection–and has let the people discover themselves and bring the best out in them. They have not had them molded to become superior beings–which in my vocabulary reads as â€Å"robots†Ã¢â‚¬â€œwhich in turn is defined in the Webster dictionary as â€Å"an efficient insensitive person who functions automatically. † The French education system is in desperate need of a complete overhaul. Otherwise, their nation is going to lose all of the little importance that they have in the world today because of their immodesty and arrogance. France is and will be nothing more than an angry yapping poodle in the midst of uninterested, lazing bulldogs.
